The first step is always the biggest, which remains true for the start up of what will become a large business across America, offshore wind farms. With the demand for power ever increasing alternative sources are clearly necessary. In Europe the trend to utilize the oceanic space and wind patterns has been increasing popular over the last few years; however Americans have been reluctant because of how a set of large turbines would change our ocean view. That being said this start up offshore farm off Rhode Island will open a lot of doors for this industry in general. There are already plans in place for numerous other offshore wind turbines. Along with the obvious benefit of using open unused ocean space for these power farms there is significantly more consistent wind offshore, making wind power one step more reliable. I think this article displays the somewhat tardy but incredibly necessary steps that are finally being taken to look for more sustainable ways to get what we need.
