The octopus named Inky from the New Zealand National Aquarium escaped into the ocean the ocean. He was given to the aquarium two years ago after being found in a crayfish pot. The escape route involved the octopus slipping through a small gap in his cage, sliding across a wet floor and squeezing through a 150-millimeter – diameter (5.9inches) pipe, basically a very narrow pipe. These octopus are very intelligent and inquisitive. This exploration of space is normal for octopuses. However, there has never been an escape at this aquarium before and the gap was just big enough for this octopus to get through. Apparently as long as the octopus mouth can fit, everything else will fit as well.
