The finger has been pointed at so many role players throughout Michigan’s Flint water crisis, and finally the Michigan governor is calling out the state’s environmental agency, which is a office I worked with last semester. Sorta glad I wasn’t there for this debacle!
Rick Snyder, Governor, tells congressional committees that “systematic failures” stemmed from the state’s environmental protection agency led to the actual poisoning of water sources. His testimony Wednesday afternoon shows that he is reinforcing that there was a failure of government at all levels, causing this catastrophe. He also claims that a water specialist from the Environmental Protection Agency was “silenced” when he attempted to warn the state environmental agency about the lead contamination back in February.
