IFL Science published an article that goes back to the books Eating Animals and Placing Animals that we read in class. The article goes over why and how some people find it easier to eat animals; it talks about the “meat paradox”, or the conflict between enjoying meat and feeling guilty about it. It also talks about cognitive dissonance, which is how most people deal with moral dilemmas or contradictory beliefs. The article goes over many things talked about in the two books, including how we ignore the processes behind meat production, and how we “dumb down” livestock. I thought it was neat to read this article with the viewpoints I gained from reading Eating Animals and Placing Animals.
