Morocco is planning to build the world’s largest concentrated solar power plant. This power plant is planning on supplying electricity to 1.1 million Moroccans by 2018. This is very beneficial to the country as well as setting a precedent for Africa. 97% of Morocco’s energy comes from fossil fuels, and with this, they hope to reduce carbon emissions by 700,000 tons per year. In Africa, a lack of power has been a problem. Only 24% of the people in Sub-Saharan Africa has access to electricity, which is the worst for any part of the world. This is a major step for the area, and will help reduce the use of fossil fuels, as well as give people power.
