Underground Fridges

Dutch designer Floris Schoonderbeek has created “the Ground Fridge”, an underground refrigerator that does not require electricity. The Ground Fridge keeps food at around 50 degrees all year round. This concept hearkens back to the old practice of root cellars, but the Ground Fridge is significantly more expensive–estimated price of $16,000. Although I think the price is a little much, I think the concept is great. Refrigerators end up in dumps and landfills when they break, and a ground fridge would cut down on electricity use.
