How is Something so Small causing problems?

I came across this article today and I found it pretty interesting. Experts are reporting that 8 trillion microbeads pollute US aquatic waters every day, which is enough to cover a total of 300 tennis courts. The problem is it is found in toothpaste and soap, which goes down the drain. They are very small, and are hard to clean up. Some states have taken action and banning these products, and some companies have also agreed to stop selling some of their products. It’s interesting because its something so small, but it is impacting our environment at a major cost.
