Solar Panels Floating on Water Will Power Japan’s Homes
This article discusses a relatively new sustainability concept of using large sunlight-slurping photovoltaic panels placed on lakes and ponds in Japan to power homes and businesses without taking up space on land used for agriculture. There are still some concerns regarding the environmental effects these solar panels will have on the bodies of water they are placed on, however, Japan, a country with very limited land space is the perfect place to test this new concept. This new method of solar energy also poses the question of if these panels could be placed on saltwater, opening all new doors in the field of renewable energy.
