Agricultural waste could be used as biofuel

A new study found that five strains of yeast like straw, sawdust, and corn cobs could be turned into bioethanol. This could be a major breakthrough because this biofuel would be more eco-friendly and use waste products up.They estimated it could produce about 400 billion litres of bioethanol could be produced each year from the yeast strains. However right now the production is still inefficient because the high temperatures and acid conditions create toxic compounds when broken down into the bioethanol.
