An issue that has caused much debate in my home county (Logan) is wind turbines. There have been many intense, passive-aggressive battles between neighbors when one proudly displays a pro-wind turbine sign in their yard and the other is very much against it. Recently however, the Honda Transmission Plant in Russells Point has built two wind turbines on their property and hope to generate at least 10% of their electricity needs onsite. When I was home over break, I got to see them in person, and I was wondering what all the hype was about, so, with the help of Google, I did some digging.
This article is simply about the onsite turbines and what they are hoping to accomplish by using them, but I just don’t understand why people are so opposed to the idea of wind energy. Is it the eyesore the turbines create? Does it have to do with birds and their migration paths? Is there some sort of noise pollution they cause? Are people just mad that they didn’t think of it sooner? I don’t know. What I do know is that the first ones have started to arrive and that more are likely to follow.
