Reaction to Desert Solitaire

I generally enjoyed the book, especially the parts where he described his surroundings or recounted his adventures in the park. I thought that overall his message was clear: parks should not be developed further to make things comfortable for us humans. I tend to agree with his outlook that parks should be preserved for their ecological value and not used for resource extraction or as “amusement parks”. I thought that it was a good insight into the experiences he had and the way in which these experiences shaped his outlook on the area. He writes of the extreme beauty and uniqueness of the desert and its inhabitants and this point of view drives his desire to preserve the area and keep out human development.
